Morzine
Morzine is situated in the centre of the vast Portes
du Soleil region of the French Alps. The traditional
wooden chalets and old stone buildings give it a
unique charm and appeal.
The
town has an excellent selection of shops, open until
early evening. If you're after some après
ski away from the chalet, there is a wide variety
of restaurants, cafes, bars and two nightclubs to
keep you entertained.
If
you don't ski or would prefer a day off from all
that exercise, there are plenty of other options.
You can walk around the stunning Lac Montriond;
visit the weekly local market on Wednesday morning
or watch the town's ice hockey team who play there
each week as part of the French national league.
For the more adventurous you can try parapenting.
Further
afield are Annecy, Chamonix or Geneva - all located
within one and half hours drive from Morzine.
St Jean dAulps
The
chalet is located in an enviable spot just above
the village of St Jean dAulps and 2 minutes
from the ski resort of La Grand Terche. It is also
only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Morzine
and 15 minutes to the cable car at Ardent which
links right to the heart of the Portes du Soleil
circuit. It is an easy 10 minute walk in to La Grande
Terche in the evening if you wish to try one of
the bars or restaurants in the resort. St Jean also
boasts 2 excellent restaurants, Le Petit Coq and
LArmandier.
For
shopping, there is a Patisserie, Boulangerie, Post
Office, Bank and convenience store all located
in the village. Just 3 minutes drive towards Morzine
and you will find a large out of town supermarket,
Champion.
